Abstract

276,063. Thornycroft & Co., Ltd., J. I., and Thornycroft, T. May 17, 1926. Force-feed lubricating. - Oil is supplied from the gear-box 2 of a motor vehicle through a central hole 4 in the clutch shaft 5 to the clutch mechanism by the pumping action of a spiral groove 3a formed on a spindle 3 which is driven from the primary shaft 1 of the gear-box and extends into the hoLe 4, the groove 3a acting when the shaft 1 is rotating at a lower speed than the shaft 5. The hole 4 extends the whole length of the shaft 5 to supply oil to the bearing 6 of the flywheel 7, while a radial passage 9 leads from the hole to supply oil to the operating sleeve 10.
