Abstract
405,539. Aircraft. NISHI, H., 878, Oaza-Kimiidera, Kimiidera-Mura, Kaiso-Gun, Wakayama-Ken, Japan. June 29, 1933, Nos. 18557, 18558, and 18559. Convention dates, July 4, 1932, March 4, 1933, and May 3, 1933. [Class 4.] A device enabling a flying machine to ascend vertically into the air includes in one form, a propeller 3, mounted on a vertical shaft 2, a cylinder 1 and a screen plate 5 arranged so as to cause the air current created by the propeller to flow over the upper and lower surfaces of a crescent-shaped wing 4. In a modification, the cylinder is housed in the body of the machine, the crescent-shaped wing is disposed beneath the body and two oppositely-rotating propellers are provided in place of the propeller 3. In a further modification, a circular wing 15, Fig. 5, a conical air duct 13, a screen 14 and oppositely rotating airscrews 3, 3<1> are housed within the body 8 of the flying machine.
