Abstract

528,046. Helicopters. ALLAN, H. B. April 19, 1939, No. 11757. [Class 4] A helicopter has two concentrically-mounted airscrews 12 provided with rigidly-mounted upwardly inclined blades and driven through crown and bevel gearing from separate motors 4, 5 each with its own fuel supply and provided with a clutch 6 whereby it may be disconnected from the drive during flight. A rudder on an axis 3 inclined to the vertical is provided. The Provisional Specification states also that the helicopter may be made as a toy and driven by a rubber cord.
