Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 1, 1932]. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] A hollow tile for concrete floors or roofs has an arched top 1 of parabolic form. The sides of the tiles are somewhat undercut to key with concrete T-beams cast between them. Central strengthening ribs 11 are provided. A flat projection 19 is provided at the top of the tile to absorb longitudinal compression due to the weight of the floor and to increase the depth of the T-beams. Reinforcing rods 18 are located in the T-beams by semi-cylindrical distancepieces of concrete, plaster, or brick resting on the flanges 3 of the tiles, or by washers threaded over the rods, or, as in the form shown in Fig. 5, the rods 18 are located by hooked wires 28 engaging the undercut edges 20 of the projections 19. Transverse reinforcements 32, Fig. 8, are placed in concrete moulded into the grooves in additional tiles 30. The tiles may be of concrete, terra-cotta, or brick or of a porous composition formed by baking clay mixed with brown coal, coal dust, peat sawdust, or other combustible material.
