Abstract
403,588. Closures for bottles &c. ORELL, H., 6, Neugutstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. July 18, 1933, No. 20300. Convention date, May 18. [Class 125 (iii).] A detachable closure for bottles, &c., consisting of a cover fitted over a bead on the bottle neck, is characterised by an internal groove in the cover flange in which is located a divided spring ring radially movable in the groove and tightened around the lower part of the head by mechanical means, thus pulling the cover down on the bottle neck, or loosened in order to open the container. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the skirt of the cover 3 is divided into a number of separate lugs 9 and the mechanical means consists of an outer cap 11 having sloping ribs 13 which, when the cap is forced down to the position shown in the left of the Figure, engage the ring 8 between the lugs 9 and force it under the bead. In the construction shown in Fig. 3 the skirt of the cover is continuous and the ends 14 of the wire are hooked and project through a wedge-shaped opening in the outer cap. When the cap is raised from the position shown the ring expands and moves from under the bead.
