Abstract
403,206. Fluid - actuated valves. ELTEN, A., 7, Clausewitzstrasse, Bremen, Germany. Oct. 7, 1932, No. 27992. [Class 135.] A valve device for controlling the flow of gas particularly applicable for use in the collecting mains of gas producing plant and in the conduits connecting the carburettor to the various cylinders of an internal - combustion engine comprises a valve member 11 supported by the stream of gas passing through an upwardly diverging passage 1 so as to hover over its seat. The valve member has inclined grooves 13 so that the flow of gas constantly rotates the valve to steady it and to throw off by centrifugal force any impurities which may be deposited thereon. The valve has a tube 12 open at the top to receive small pieces of iron or steel to act as loading and which may be removed by a magnet 14. The top of the flared passage may be closed by a valve 9 actuated by a screw 7.
