Abstract
402,528. Rubber-soled footwear. ST. HELENS CABLE & RUBBER CO., Ltd., and EVANS, H., St. Helens Works, Slough, Bucking- hamshire. July 20, 1932, No. 20538. [Class 17 (ii).] A layer 3 of sponge rubber is embodied in the sole or heel of rubber soled footwear and is attached to an adjacent part of the shoe such as an inner sole 2 or a portion of the upper 1. An outer skin 4 of rubber latex covers the outer surface and side edges of the sponge rubber layer 3, and this may be applied, both to the upper and sole, to the desired thickness, by repeated dipping in rubber latex and drying. The latex in the bath is preferably vulcanised, but the vulcanising may be carried out subsequently to the dipping and simultaneously with the drying.
