Abstract
404,556. Boots &c. TRICKETT, Ltd., J., TRICKETT, J. J. W., and KAY, C., Greenbridge Works, Waterfoot, Manchester. July 17, 1933, No. 20129. [Class 17 (ii).] A shoe or the like is made with the sole, instep, vamp, and quarters of one piece of leather or leather composition of usual outsole thickness, by first cutting out a blank, as in Fig. 1, softening it and moulding the sole, instep, and adjacent parts of the upper between dies under heat and pressure. The parts 2, 3, which are to form the quarters and the vamp, are then tapered as at 2a, 3a, Fig. 3, by skiving or scouring, are folded over on a last and secured together by adhesive, and the upper is reduced in thickness by scouring to make it pliable and to finish off the joints. A heel is attached, and an insole and heel grip secured in the shoe by adhesive. The shoe is coloured or otherwise finished. An additional sole of leather, crepe rubber, or other suitable material may be attached.
