Abstract

291,125. Oswell, B.F. Jan. 24, 1927. Connecting uppers to insoles and soles; inset wearing-parts.-A crepe rubber sole is provided with crepe rubber studs secured thereto by being forcibly fitted into smaller holes therein. The crepe rubber sole is applied in two layers 1, 2, viz. a thin layer 1 secured both by sticking with solution to the insole and sewing to the usual welt 3a. and a thick outsole 2 solutioned to the inner layer 1. A leather heel is secured first by sewing a layer 4<a> to said welt 3<a> continued round the back of the shoe, and then by rivetting the remainder of the heel to the layer 4a and insole. The two layers of the sole are recessed into the heel, the inner layer 1 extending a little further back than the layer 2 which is slightly undercut. The crepe rubber studs 5 are secured by forciblv fitting them into small holes in the layer 2 before it is solutioned to the layer 1.
