Abstract
In a modification of the process for making alloys described in the parent Specification the reduction of the oxides is effected in an atmosphere comprising hydrogen admixed with hydrocarbon gases in such quantities that practically no carbon is present in the finished alloys. Hydrogen admixed with benzol vapour, benzine vapour methane, coke oven gas, illuminating gas, &c., or mixtures of industrial gases such as coke oven gas and blast furnace gas, or water gas and illuminating gas, may be used for the reduction.
