Abstract

401,994. Typewriters &c. MUNSON, G. W., East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. June 2, 1933, No. 16093. [Class 100 (iv).] Keys.-A cushion-cap comprises a member adapted to be fitted on the usual key and formed with a cup in which is mounted a spring-supported telescopic member carrying a key-button and provided with means for limiting upwards movement. The cushion-cap shown in the Figure comprises a sleeve 3 formed with a cup 7 which rests on the top of the usual key 1, the side thereof being engaged by a crimp on the sleeve. A sleeve 4, mounted in the cup, is provided with a key-button 6 which rests on a spring 5, a flange 13 on the sleeve co-operating with the rim 10 of the cup to limit upwards movement. Rotation of the sleeve 4 is prevented by co-operation of notches in the flange with struck-up lugs 16 on the cup. The sleeve 4 has a rolled rim 15 which enters an undercut channel 18 in the key-button, a stiffening-ring 20 being provided for the inner wall of the channel. The spring 5 rests on the cup and is seated in the rim 15.
