401,953. Electric battery lamps. PERTRIX CHEMISCHE FABRIK AKT.- GES., 3, Askanischer Platz, Berlin. March 30, 1933, No. 9648. Convention date, Feb. 3. [Class 39 (ii).] In an electric battery lamp of the kind wherein the beam from a fixed bulb is focussed by movement of the reflector carrier or lens cap, the circuit remaining closed during such movement, a sleeve h forming part of the reflector carrier or the lens cap bears upon a press-button switch k when it is moved under the guidance of slots s<1>, s<3> cooperating with a fixed guiding-pin t. The slot s<1> is so arranged that the circuit is broken when the sleeve is moved to bring the pin t to the outer end of the slot s<1>, the press-button k then being received in a hole o in the sleeve and springing outwardly. To enable the torch to be used as a signalling flashlamp a slot s<2> is provided, through which the press-button k projects for manipulation when the sleeve is moved into the appropriate position. The slot s<3> arranged parallel to the slot s<2>, and connected to slot s<1> by a transverse slot q, enables the beam to be focussed for signalling. To avoid inadvertent closing of the circuit when the lamp is not in use a bulbous projection u is provided near the slot s<2> to receive the press-button k when the sleeve is moved to bring the pin t to the outer end of the slot s<3>. A slot is provided in the projection u to enable the pressbutton to be released. A switch r connected in parallel with the press-button enables the illumination to be maintained when the reflector carrier is removed.
