Abstract

401,824. Cutting paper. GLEDHILL, A. H., Trinity Works, Halifax, Yorkshire. July 27, 1932, No. 21140. [Class 31 (i).] A machine for cutting lengths off a paper roll or card strip, such as those used in cash registers and time recorders, comprises a pair of intermittently-rotated feed and date-printing rolls E, E<1> driven by a ratchet wheel h<1> in such manner that the length cut off may be varied. The paper passes from a roll B through a tension device C to the rollers E, E<1> ; the roller E carries dating type, and the roller E' gripping bands e<1>. The pawl h of the ratchet wheel is carried by a toothed sector H gearing with a sector H<1> which is linked to a lever h<5> oscillated by a hand crank h<6> and slotted to slide over a roller h<@0> in a block h<5>. To vary the feed, the block h<8> is clamped by a set screw h<11> in the required position on a bar h<7>. The cutter K is reciprocated by cams k<4>, k<5> and levers k<6>, k<7>, and is held by springs k<8> against the stationary knife k<1>.
