Abstract
401,510. Loud-speakers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and OLIVER, D. A., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Dec. 20, 1932, No. 36120. [Class 40 (iv).] A permanent magnet for moving coil loud-speakers comprises a pillar-like polepiece 1 and a block 2 cast in the form of a flattened tube, one end of the polepiece being secured by a screw 7 in a clearance hole in the wall 5 of the block whilst its other end projects into or through the opposite wall 6. The block is preferably substantially rectangular in cross section and the wall 6 may be considerably thinner than the remainder. Both the pole piece and block may be made of permanent magnet steel or the block may be of magnet steel and the polepiece of soft iron. Holes may be provided in the wall 6 for attachment of the magnet to the remainder of the loud-speaker.
