Abstract
401,083. Eyeshades. SCHLUMBOHM, P., 13, Wittelsbacherstrasse, Wilmersdorf, Berlin. Sept. 19, 1932, No. 26003. Convention date, Oct. 3, 1931. [Class 97 (i).] An eyeshade comprises a diaphragm 1 extending over the eye and provided with a short horizontal tubular slot 2 on the level of the centre of rotation of the eye. The width a of the slot is from 3 to 10 mm. and its depth c is about equal to its width. The length b of the slot is sufficient to give unimpeded lateral vision. As shown the diaphragms, which may be pressed out of sheet metal, are mounted in spectacle frames. They may, however, be made of moulded Bakelite &c. and mounted in goggle frames. The openings 2 may be protected by transparent material, or, as shown in Fig. 8, the diaphragm 1 and tube 2 may be made from one piece of glass with the diaphragm extending across the inner end of the tube to form a shield 8, the surface 9 being rendered opaque. The diaphragms may be formed with clips by which they can be attached to the rims of spectacles.
