Abstract

335,345. Reid, R. C., and Davis, E. Aug. 27, 1929. Spectacles, eye-glasses, and goggles have an auxiliary optical element, such as a lens or a colour or anti-dazzle screen, so attached that it may be moved into or out of a position in which it lies over one half, considered in the vertical direction, of the main optical element. In the form shown in Fig. 2, an auxiliary lens 7, adapted to be used in front of the main lens 8 for reading &c., is mounted in a frame 6, which is pivoted by a joint 5 to the main lens frame 1, the side 3 being pivoted by a joint 4 in rear of the joint 5. A clip 9 may be used to retain the attachment in the out of use position. A similar attachment, with a colour screen or anti-dazzle device, or a distance lens (for use with a near lens), may be fitted for use over the upper part of a main lens. Fig. 7 shows a form with an attachment over each half of the main lens.
