Abstract
400,617. Endless-belt conveyers. CARRIE & CO., Ltd., J. B., 15, Victoria Street, London.-(Baillot et Cie, A. ; St. Ouen, Paris.) April 21, 1932, Nos. 11510 and 12486. [Class 78 (i).] Sand or other granular or powdered material is fed from a container 16 with a bottom opening by a belt 24 or the like traversed intermittently to a second container 34 having a closable outlet. The rate at which the sand is removed can be regulated by a slide 48 vertically adjustable by means of a screw and nut 52. The belt is supported by rollers 25, 26 and 56 and driven, through gearing 42 by an electric motor 40 which is automatically switched off, after a predetermined travel of the belt, by a switch 44 and a projection 46 carried by the roller 26, belt or other moving part. The container 34 can be opened by a hand lever 35 to discharge its contents into a flask 37 in a moulding- machine. Sand is prevented from falling from the edges of the belt by metal guards 30 edged with rubber or such sand is directed by a shoot to another container controlled intermittently. A scraper 59 may be pressed to act on the belt by a weighted lever 60. In a modification the container 16 may be divided into a number of compartments each provided with a control slide 48 so that materials of different kinds may be fed.
