Abstract
400,227. Balancing - apparatus. TUCKER, R. A., 117, Stoke Newington Road, London. April 20, 1932, Nos. 11317, 14124, and 14125. [Class 78 (ii).] A balancing device for sliding windows, doors, shutters, tip carts, and other devices, comprises a spring-pressed nut slidably and non-rotatably mounted in a casing by a pin and slot, and engaging a rotary screw 3 connected to the window or movable device by rack and pinion gear 7, or by chain gear, or pulley and cable &c. The nut may be secured in any position by a rack 17 movable by a handle 21, Fig. 7, or by a rack on the sleeve 1 with which a stud 13 on the nut may be engaged by a rotary casing 15, Fig.. 9. The screw may be fixed and the nut and its casing rotatable. A wedging or other holding device 31, Fig. 11, controllable by knob and spring 33, 32, may be provided to secure the chain or cable 29 in any desired position. The wedge may be ribbed or covered with felt fibre or other material.
