Abstract
541,565. Windows. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON, Ltd., WATKINSON, A., PERNETTA, C., and BARRATT, C. B. May 31, 1940, No. 9584. Addition to 520,793. [Class 20 (iii)] In a window having a sliding pane 22 and a "fixed" pane 21 in the same plane and so engaging at oblique edges on vertical frame rails 24, 23 that, when the window is opened, the pane 22 pushes the pane 21 inwards against the outward pressure of springs 36, as described in the parent Specification, the window is operated by winding gear comprising a shaft 33 rotated by a handle 32 through worm gearing and carrying pinions 34 engaging racks 35 on the window frame 20. The pane 21 is guided inwards by oblique abutments 25 and by pins 26 engaging inclined slots 27 in a fixed bar 28. The springs are U-shaped and one limb of each spring is secured to the window frame. The panes may be locked by a pivoted arm 39 on the frame of the pane 21 engaging jaws 40 on the main frame.
