Abstract

399,872. Knitted fabrics. WILDT, E., HOLMES, H. H., and WILDT & CO., Ltd., Adelaide Works, Leicester. April 15, 1932, No. 10844. [Class 74 (ii).] To increase the resistance of knitted fabrics of the fish-net type to laddering, warp-yarns 32, 33, 34 are incorporated, one in each needle wale. A fish-net type of fabric is defined as one in which a plurality of yarns are simultaneously fed coursewise to the needles and for one or more courses one or more yarns are knitted on selected needles symmetrically disposed while the other varn or yarns are not knitted thereon; this order is reversed in the next course or succession of courses so that the yarn or yarns previously missed by the selected needles are taken by them. In the example shown alternate needles take both ground yarns 30, 31 for four courses 12 .. 15 while the intermediate needles take the yarn 31 only. In the next four courses 16 .. 19 the order is reversed, i.e. the needles which previously took both yarns take yarn 31 only and vice-versa. The warp yarns may be made to skip certain needle wales and where not knitted into the wales may be interlocked with the loops of the ground-yarn stitches in various ways.
