Abstract
399,373. Railway-vehicle undercarriages. KRUCKENBERG, F. and STEDEFELD, C., 16B, Ellernstrasse, Hanover, Germany. Jan. 30, 1933. No. 2884. Convention date, Jan. 30, 1932. [Classes 103 (v) and 103 (vi).] In order to make provision, in a railway vehicle having bogie trucks with two or more axles, for lateral and swivelling movements of the trucks in rounding curves, the main pivot of each truck is arranged in a fixed position on the same and is pivotally connected to the body or underframe by one or more bars hinged at their inner ends to the latter. In the construction, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a single bar 17 connected by pivot 12, 14 to the vehicle body 11 and truck frame 13 respectively is employed. The lateral movement of the body relative to the trucks takes place on rollers 18 which are disposed between curved tracks 19 to obtain a self-centring effect. In a modification, the single bar is replaced by a pair of substantially parallel bars hinged to a cross-lever swivelling on the truck pivot. In another construction, Fig. 5, the horn-plates 27 are dispensed with for transmitting the tractive effort between the axles and body. The ends of axles 27, 28 are connected by side-bars 29, between which extends a cross-member 31 to which and to the vehicle body 11 are pivoted upper and lower bars 33, 34. The invention may also be applied to an axle-truck, such as in shown in Fig. 7, which supports and connects the adjacent ends of two coaches 36, 37, the pair of hinged connecting-bars 38, 39 being associated with a common truck pivot 14. Suitable connections may be located between the two coaches 36, 37 to permit relative swivelling movement, but to prevent relative lateral movement.
