Abstract

399,181. Thermal switches. LUCAS, Ltd., J. and TURNER, E. O., Great King Street, Birmingham. March 29, 1932, No. 8989. [Class 38 (v).] An overload thermal circuit - breaker comprises a rotary contactcarrying member c movable by hand into several switching positions against the action of centralizing return springs h and connected by a fusible metal bond o to a control disc p having means such as a circle. of holes co-operating with two studs q for holding the disc and therefore also the member c in its set position. A spring j presses the members c, p to the right so that the holes firmly engage the studs q. The springs h are connected to a plate f having pins i passing through holes in the member c and the plate f is adapted to be rotated by a detachable key g. When an overload occurs in a heating coil s the fusible bond o melts allowing the member c to rotate into its off position. The fusible bond then resets and the switch may again be moved " on."
