Abstract
429,071. Electrically-tripped switches. SCHIELE & BRUCHSALER - INDUSTRIEWERKE AKT.-GES., Baden-Baden, Germany, and CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., Lincoln Works, Walsall. June 22, 1934, No. 18442. Convention date, June 22, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] Bases.-Automatic circuit - breakers of the rotary - contact type have an insulating trip-member interposed between the locking mechanism and the contacts, and adapted to be displaced by the automatic release or releases for releasing the lock on the contacts. The contacts are located in a recess in the base, and the trip-member is formed as a cover for the recess. The spindle 1 drives the spindle 3 through a toggle or other retaining mechanism, (not shown), housed between the plates 4a, 4b, and spindle 3 is connected to the movable arm 5 carrying roller contacts at its ends for co-operating with a pair of fixed contacts or with change over contacts. The well 9<a> enclosing the contacts is closed by an insulating separating plate 12, which is rotatable on spindle 3 under the action of bimetal strips 11<a>, 11<b> disposed around heating coils 10<a>, 10<b> in wells 9<b>, 9<c>. The plate 12 may have means for adjusting the stroke of 11<a>, 11<b> and, when sufficiently rotated, abuts on a trigger, (not shown), projecting through 4b and opens the switch.
