Abstract
398,621. Feeding webs. STOKES & SMITH CO., Summerdale, Philadelphia, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Remington, J. P. ; 124, South Van Pelt Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A.) June 30, 1932, No. 18568. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1931. Addition to 390,680. [Class 100 (i).] The fluid blasts described in the parent Specification for removing creases &c. from goods being fed to an ironing or other machine are supplemented by means for mechanically shaking or beating the goods. The means may comprise a paddle 34, Fig. 1, positively rotated by a motor 39. The paddle may have serrated edges or may have bristles along its edges. In another form a bar 43, Fig. 5, is caused to reciprocate in inclined guides into and out of contact with the goods. A positively rotated feed roller may be arranged above the goods to compensate the backward drag of the paddle. The paddle may be combined with the fluid blast and may be made hollow for this purpose, being provided with air jets along its edges 61 which may be serrated as in Fig. 12. The air jets 15<1>, Fig. 1, may be inclined upwardly or may be located beneath a baffle.
