Abstract
398,571. Conduits ; plug couplings. CATTLE, E. P. S., 21, Orchard Street, Oxford Street, London. April 15, 1932, No. 10808. [Classes 36 and 38 (i).] A fitting for attaching circular conduits &c. for electric conductors to flat-sided conduits consists of an internally screwed collar A, the end of which has a groove D to engage the edge of the opening in the flat side and is formed with sawcuts E so that it can be sprung into position. The conduit is then screwed in and forces the end portion of the collar outwards. To remove the collar a tubular tool G, Fig. 4, is passed over it and engages with a conical portion A<1>, forcing the end in and disengaging it. Catches K on the tool engage with a rim F on the collar to remove it. The collar may be formed with a bevelled surface H, Fig. 6, with which a corresponding surface P<2> on a ring P, Fig. 8, engages to force the end of the collar outwards and secure its engagement ; the ring P may be formed with tapped holes 0 for the attachment of leading-off fittings such as circuit-boxes and plug-couplings. An alternative form of extracting tool, Fig. 10, is tapered at Q<1> to engage the conical part of the collar and is also provided with pins R which may be made to engage notches in the collar L and hold it during screwing and unscrewing of the conduit.
