Abstract

397,970. Endless-belt conveyers. SUTCLIFFE, Ltd., R., Universal Works, and SHEPPARD, J., Dyehouse, Benton Hill, both in Horbury, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. May 5, 1932, No. 12935. [Class 78 (i).] In conveyers of the kind in which the driving head is provided with a loading jib drum over or around which the belt passes prior to passing to a driving drum, the pull on the belt as a result of loading is utilized to operate meansfor varying the arc of contact of the belt with the driving drum directly in accordance with such loading. The bearings for the shaft of the loading jib drum 5 are mounted in blocks 8 which are slidable in inclined guides 9 against the resistance of springs 10. In a modification the loading jib drum has a jockey roller associated therewith, each of said drums being slidable in the jib frame against spring resistance.
