Abstract

397,502. Window fastenings. BAIRD, T., 124, Bothwell Street, Glasgow. Feb. 19, 1932, No. 4947. [Class 44.] A window comprises two or more sashes, B, C, D, Figs. 1 and 2, mounted in an open frame A, each sash, or each with the exception of the bottom sash D, being carried by the sides of the frame on fixed pivots 2 at the lower edge of the sash. The closed sashes are locked by a pair of interconnected bolts F, Fig. 7, disposed one on each side of each sash. The bolts are spring-controlled and are interconnected by a wire 13, the central portion of which passes through a spring-controlled eye 9, Fig. 8, which is adapted to be pulled downwards by a window pole, for instance, to withdraw the bolts. The length of the wire is adjusted by screwed sleeves 12 and the major portion of the wire is encased in casings 15. The uppermost sash is provided with a locking bolt which engages with the upper horizontal member of the window frame.
