Abstract
A mould or die which is a good conductor of heat is formed of metallic powder mixed with a small quantity of hardened plastic material. Thus four parts by weight of zinc powder are mixed with one part of synthetic resin at a temperature of 90 DEG C. and the mixture is then moulded and baked. A counter-mould for forming the mould may be made of wood impregnated with a mixture of metallic powder, such as copper, and synthetic resin. In a modification, only the worked parts of the mould are made in the manner described and the remainder of the mould is formed of cast metal. The mould may be used for making decorative articles such as furniture &c. from materials such as resins, rubber, hydraulic cement, &c.
