397,337. Making foam ; shaving- appliances. MEHLSEN, J. K., f7, Vestergade, and NIELSEN, A. C., 16, Hyskenstraede, both in Copenhagen. Nov. 3, 1932, No. 30985. [Class 47 (ii).] A device for producing foam comprises a hollow perforated body 1, the interior of which is connected by a tube 6 to a bulb 8. The perforations 3 are narrow at the inner surface of the body 1, and widen at the outer surface into cup-like recesses 4. Air enters the body through a restricted passageway 9. The body is suspended by the tube 6 in a delivery tube 10, which is immersed in the foam-generating liquid 17 in a vessel 11. Foam rises up the tube 10 and passes through sponge or the like 18 on its way to the spout 13, the sponge acting to control the consistency of the foam. In a modification, the bulb 8 is replaced by a small pump mounted in the upper end 12 of the tube 10. The vessel 11 may be carried by a wall bracket, which may support the vessel itself, as shown, or may be attached to the upper end of the tube 10. In another modification, Fig. 3, suitable for shaving purposes, the upper end of the tube 10 is formed as a bowl 22, which receives the foam ready for use.
