Abstract

397,182. Yarn clearers. TENNANT, W. J., 111, Hatton Garden, London.- (Universal Winding Co. ; 95, South Street, Boston, U.S.A.) Feb. 19, 1932, No. 5038. [Class 120 (ii).] A slub-catcher comprises two parallel cleaning members between which the yarn is drawn, one of which is a rotatably mounted pin, the bearing surface of which offers alternative setting faces arranged to abut directly against the fixed member, so that by rotating the pin, the distance between the two cleaning members may be adjusted. Resilient means are preferably provided for holding said setting face in engagement with the other member. Yarn is drawn between the fixed plate 25 and the pin 35 which has an eccentric portion 37 rotatably held in contact with the edge 26 of the fixed plate 25 by a resilient clamping member 30. Adjustment of the slit is effected by inserting a key in the recess 42 and rotating the pin 35. The clamping member 30 is provided with a finger 33 engaging a groove in the pin 35 to prevent axial displacement of the pin, and also with an upturned finger 36 which locates the detector wire 12 of a stop-motion, a member 43 serving to limit the movement of the detector upon yarn breakage. The assembly may conveniently be mounted by a screw 22 on the bracket 16 of a grid type tensioning arrangement. In a modification, the eccentrically disposed portion 37 of the pin 35 may be replaced by a portion having ratchet teeth of varying depth, the edge 26 of the plate 25 being adapted to abut against the ratchet teeth.
