Abstract
702,095. Textile drafting roller. CASABLANCAS HIGH DRAFT CO., Ltd. Oct. 8, 1952 [Oct. 30; 1951], No; 25379/51. Class 120(2) [Also in Group VIII] A top roller for spinning and like machines and consisting of an arbor carrying a boss at each end with a sleeve between has one or each boss removably mounted by means of a spring clip that is partially annular, is seated in an end recess in the boss and has parts that spring into a locating groove near the end of the arbor when the boss is in operating position, The spring clip 4 is preferably made from. stout spring wire bent to form an interrupted annulus, Fig. 5, of comparatively large size so that it is a tight fit in an inner recess 10a in the main boss recess 10. A spacer 11 is pressed into. the recess 10 to hold the arms 4a of the clip 4 a correct working distance apart. When the clip 4 and spacer 11 are positioned, a sealing washer 13 is. permanently secured in the mouth of the recess 10. If desired the washer 13 may carry end pivots for the roller. Instead of a regular shallow groove 2 in the arbor 1, one, two or more deep flats may be formed in the base of the groove to cause a particularly strong: holding effect by the arms 4a.
