Abstract

674,122. Twist tubes for textile spinning &c. machines. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and POTTS, S. Oct. 27, 1950 [July 28, 1949], No. 19848/49. Class 120(ii) A twist tube for use in drawing, twisting, doubling, or spinning machines comprises a cylinder 1 set centrally within a cupshaped member 2, the cylinder 1 having a spiral groove or slot 5 in its outer surface and extending over its length, the cupshaped member 2 having an open channel 8 parallel to the axis of the cylinder 1 and near the base of the groove or slot 5 and a slit 9 is also provided from the periphery of the member 2 to the channel 8. Preferably, two members 2 are riveted together, as at 3, to provide a reversible twist tube, which may be driven from a belt or band, by which means it may be held in contact with two freelymounted supporting bowls. A third bowl may be arranged so that it will only be rotated if vibration of the tube becomes excessive. Preferred diameters of the cupshaped members 2 and cylinders 1 are stated to be one and a quarter inches and quarter inch: Other dimensions are given. Specifications 4579/12, 10327/13, [both in Class 120(ii)], 650,950 and 651,337 are referred to.
