Abstract
395,914. Coke ovens. SOC. GENERALE DE FOURS ‚ COKE SYSTEMES LECOCQ, 215, Chaussee d'Alsemberg, Brussels. Oct. 26, 1932, No. 30000. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1931. [Class 51 (ii).] In a vertically-flued coke oven in which upcast and downcast flues alternate along the length of a heating-wall, and in which combustion is effected in two or more stages, the transverse regenerators are subdivided into compartments 9 by partitions 13 so arranged that the compartments are staggered in adjacent rows. This formation of the regenerators facilitates the arrangement of the passages which lead from a compartment and open into two corresponding heating flues in the two adjacent heating-walls at the base and at about the mid-point of their height. Adjacent regenerators are connected at their opposite ends to the main air supply and exhaust flues 8, 11. Each transverse regenerator may also be divided by a longitudinal partition so that each compartment is connected with a single heating-flue.
