Abstract

395,910. Door fastenings. BANHAM, W. F., Beavor House, St. Peter's Road, Hammersmith, London. Oct. 18, 1932, No. 29153. [Class 44.] A striking-plate for locks and latches is yieldingly mounted so as to allow it a limited movement in the direction in which the door opens, and further securing means may be provided to prevent the striking-plate from moving to the limit of its yielding movement. The striking-plate a is provided with slots e for the securing screws and the edge d of its aperture c may be raised to prevent picking. The door may be further secured by bolts pivoted on a baseplate f on the door post and projected through apertures v in a separate cover-plate u so as to lie behind but not in contact with the door when the main bolt of the lock is shot to engage with a flanged pivoted plate o. Withdrawal of the main bolt allows the pivoted bolts to return by gravity into their inoperative position.
