Abstract

395,550. Looms with automatic weftreplenishing mechanism. NIEHUES, B. H., 25, Bentheimerstrasse, Nordhorn, Grafschaft. Bentheim, Germany. Oct. 18, 1932, No. 29132. Convention date, April 14. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (iii).] Relates to means for stopping the loom or for reducing its speed during bobbin change. In the form shown, when the weft is exhausted, the feeler completes an electric circuit through an electromagnet d which attracts a lever causing its other end e to be moved into the path of a notched reciprocating lever g. The electromagnet is thereby moved to the left, and its holder h turns a lever m for actuating the transferrer k through a spindle i. At the same time, a rod o on an arm n on the spindle i is depressed and actuates a switch s for reducing the speed of the loom or for stopping it, for example by short-circuiting some of the phases of a polyphase driving motor, or adding resistance in the case of a single-phase motor. After weft replenishment, the switch is operated by gravity or a spring to drive the loom at the normal speed. In modifications, the rod o operates a clutch or controls the fluid supply to a hydraulic clutch.
