Abstract
546,143. Looms with automatic weft replenishment. MASCHINENFABRIK RUTI VORM. C. HONEGGER AKT.-GES. Dec. 24, 1940, Nos. 18111, 18112 and 18113. Convention dates, Jan. 5, April 5, and Oct. 11. [Class 142 (iii)] Yarn from a large supply 1 is wound into a series of small cops 2 and these cops are led seriatim into the shuttles 10 and are picked-into-the warps. The cops 2 are guided into reservoirs 32, each having means 26 for pushing the lowest cop into the shuttle and with detector means 36 for touching the top cop, so that in the absence of the top cop a switch 38 is actuated to begin winding of the cops 2. A weft-feeler 40 is provided for engaging the yarn of the cop within the shuttle so that when the cop has nearly run out a shaft 39 is rotated so that a ratchet 46 is brought into engagement with a camoperated lever 50. Operation of the ratchet 46 serves to rotate a second shaft 56 carrying an arm 88 which brings a forked rod 90 into engagement with a reciprocating member 92, and the rod 90 and a lever 94 are actuated to operate the copinserting means 26. A second arm 58 on the shaft 56 operates a lever 62 supporting a disc 64 and band 66 with projecting pins 70, so that when the end of the lever 62 engages a member 74, the member 74 grasps the weft remaining in the shuttle and brings it into reach of one of the pins 70, which on rotation. of the disc 64, draws the weft end from the shuttle. A third arm 76 on the shaft 56 serves to actuate an arm 82 to lift a folding cover of the shuttle, and at the same time by means of an arm 84 to cause an air pump 86 to blow the weft waste from the shuttle. The shuttle 10 has a hinged cover 19, lifted automatically by the arm 82 for insertion of a new cop, the cover being normally held closed by springs 23. To facilitate insertion of the cop, the cop-receiving recess 15 extends outwardly in funnel shape. A weft brake 16 formed by coatings of fabric may be provided, and a weft-guiding pin on the cover 19 may be arranged to fit in a hole 25 in the body of the shuttle.
