Abstract
3661. Siemens-Schuckertwerke. Feb. 13, 1912, [Convention date]. Shuttles, changing bobbins and the like in, automaticalty; shuttles.-In an electrically - driven loom, the speed of the driving-motor is automatically reduced for automatic cop-changing and is raised again after the cop - changiog has been completed. In one form, when the weft-fork mechanism 7, 8 is operated, a pawl 11 carried by an oscillating lever is moved into engagement with, and rotates a ratchet-wheel 12 secured to a cam-disk 14, which first operates mechanism for reducing the speed of the loom. Afterwards, the swell 16 acts on a roller 23 on a lever 24, which, by means of a link 25, moves a link 26 connected to the transferrer 27, 28 into the path of a reciprocating rod 29 carried by the lever 6, whereby the transferrer is operated. The ratchet-wheel 12 then returns to normil position, the pawl 11 sliding over a tooth 30, which projects so far as to force the pawl out of engagement with the ratchetwheel, the cam-disk causing the loom to be driven at its normal speed again. In a modification wherein the cop-changing mechanism is operated by weft-feeler mechanism on substantial exhaustion of weft, two rings 10, 11 on the shuttle 3, Figs. 2 and 3, co-operating with corresponding spring contacts 23, 11 adapted to enter through slots in the shuttle and shuttle box, are normally covered by the yarn on the cop. During the weaving, the ring 31 is first uncovered and operates mechanism for reducing the speed of the loom 43. The ring 10 is next uncovered, and a circuit is closed which short-circuits an electro-magnet 15, the slotted armature 21 of which is released and falls so that it is engaged by the weft-hammer lever 23. The block 28 to which the armature is pivoted is thus reciprocated, and engages and oscillates a lever 29 and shaft 30, which actuates the copchanging mechanism. An arm 50 on the shaft 30 operates mechanism whereby the loom is caused to be driven at its normal speed again.
