Abstract

[Class 110 (iii).] In a gas turbine, at the beginning of admission of fuel to the explosion chamber 1, the portion of the chamber adjacent to the air inlet valve 3 is filled with fuel from the valve 2 and the charge is driven forwards uniformly towards the ignition point 5 in front of the discharge valve 4. Ignition may be continuous or controlled. The cam controlling the fuel pump may be formed so that the rate of feed increases during its stroke. One or more extra fuel supply pipes 7 may be fitted to the explosion chamber, which may be oil cooled.
