Working-fluid supply. - In a gas turbine a number ot charge chambers D are arranged to be supplied in succession with compressed explosive mixture from a conduit E. The charges pass from the chambers D to channels D<3> in which they are fired by continuously - sparking plugs G and then actuate a rotor B of the repeated impact type. The inlet and outlet valves x, y of the charge chambers D are actuated by rocker arms D' which are engaged by cams K', K<2> on a sleeve K driven from the rotor shaft C by epicyclic reducing gear L. A bye-pass chanel H may be arranged between each charge chamber and its channel D<3> in order to maintain a flame in the combustion passage. Water is sprayed into the combustion products through nozzles J, and cooling jackets A<2> are provided. Safety valves may be fitted to the valve boxes to prevent damage by back-firing, and a gas reservoir may be provided to facilitate starting. A speed governor may be arranged to actuate a throttle valve.
