394,958. Discharge lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13D, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Oct. 2, 1931, No. 27433. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 39 (i).] In devices with a gas-filled electric discharge tube emitting ultra-violet rays and a glower emitting visible and heat rays, a switch connects the tube and the glower separately into circuit and may also be arranged to connect both in circuit simultaneously. The device can thus be used as a reading lamp or for simultaneous radiation with ultra violet and heat rays. The discharge tube 5 has an incandescent cathode 6, two anodes 7 and a filling of argon and mercury vapour, and contains the glower 8. Transformers 9, 14 supply the discharge and glower respectively and are controlled by a rotatable switch 16.
