Abstract
394,756. Arc-welding. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and POLLOCK, A. A., Croxton House, Sherbourne Place, Leamington Spa. Feb. 18, 1932, No. 4874. [Class 39 (iii).] The feed is effected by a D.C. motor F having its armature supplied with constant current and its field G arranged across the arc, the motor being coupled to torque - balancing means comprising a spring adapted to store energy during the feed and to withdraw the electrode when the arc voltage falls below a predetermined value. The balancing means is a brake drum L retarded by a belt N carrying a weight Wand driven by the feed roller shaft through a spiral spring M. The motor armature is fed by a constant voltage exciter B. Regulating resistances I, H are arranged in the armature and field circuits of the motor.
