Regulavion automatic; netevork charging arrangements.-In a voltage regulator, for a dyna.- mo connected, to a power circuit, comprising elements operable respectively in accordance with the power circuit voltage and the voltage of its field, means are provided enabling the regulator to control the excitation of the machine while considerably below its normal value. The system is particularly applicable to the regulation of dynamos when charging up mains taking a heavy changing current and serves to steady the voltage when the exciter is working at an unstable part of its magnetisation curve. The exciter voltage is controlled by the exciter coil and the regulator when the line voltage is below the operating range of the circuit coil. An adjustable resistor 15 is introduced into the field circuit of the exciter which includes contacts 8, 9 of a vibrating regulator operated respectively by the exciter and power circuit voltages and a second adjustable resistor 17 is introduced into the circuit of the exciter voltage coil 10; these resistors are preferably coupled as shown. A controlling resistor 18 is also included in the latter circuit. The resistors 15, 17 are moved from their upper positions when the power circuit coil 11 begins to function.
