Abstract
793,278. Voltage. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 20, 1956 [Jan. 21, 1955], No. 2022/56. Class 38 (4). In a system for controlling parallel connected circuits supplying a common load wherein two circuits are each provided with automatic voltage regulating apparatus responsive to the load current, as in Specifications 587,881 and 589,854, the regulating apparatus is controlled also in dependence on the direction of energy transfer by the circulating currents so as to limit the magnitude of these currents to a predetermined value. The circulating currents operate an alternating current induction disc relay 26 according to the amount, and direction of energy transfer, to bring switch arm 29 against fixed contact 30 or 31 according to the phase of the circulating current in winding 25 relative to that of the current in voltage coil 27, and the relay 33 or 34 thus operated opens contact 35 or 36, respectively in the tap changing motor control circuit, Fig. 2, to prevent the motor rotating in a direction which will increase the circulating current. The winding 27 of the relay 26 may be fed from an alternative independent source.
