The regulator thus controls the voltage to be suitable for completely charging the battery k. As this voltage would be too high for the lamps j, an additional shunt coil h on the regulator is arranged to be switched in by a switch i when it is desired to use the lamps. This additional coil causes the regulator to regulate the dynamo to a lower voltage. The series coil f may be shunted by a resistance g as described in Specification 248,167.
