Abstract

584,563. De-icing aircraft propellers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and CLARK, L. J. Jan. 1, 1945, No. 82. Addition to 525,452. [Class 114] Electrical de-icing equipment for contrarotating airscrews of aircraft consists of electric heaters 11 on the forward airscrew 1 and the boss 18, the heaters being supplied with electrical energy from a rotary transformer having its secondary winding 14 mounted to rotate with the airscrew 1, and its primary winding 15 mounted on a part carrying the rear airscrew 2, this primary winding 15 being energized from the secondary winding of a rotary transformer 17, the primary of which is fixed and is connected to a source of alternating of direct current. This source also supplies energy to the heater in the rear airscrew 2. The transformers are constructed according to the claims of the parent Specification. Specification 545,298 is referred to.
