Abstract

585,074. De-icing propellers. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and CLARK, L. J. Jan 9, 1945, No. 773. Addition to 525,452. [Class 114] An arrangement for heating parts of contrarotating airscrews for aircraft wherein electrical energy for the heater 17 on the forward airscrew 1 is supplied by a rotary transformer has its secondary winding 16 rotating with the hub 2 and its primary winding 15 rotating with a hub 5 on which is mounted the rear airscrew 4, the heater 14 for which is supplied with energy, together with the primary 15, through slip-rings 13 and bushes 11 from a source of energy on the aircraft. Source of energy may be either A.C. as in the parent Specification, or D.C. as in Specification 545,298. Specification 584,563 also is referred to.
