Convention date, Aug. 27, 1931. [Class 39 (iii).] The generator 6 supplying the armature of the feed motor 5 has differential field windings 8, 9, the former being adjustably connected across a resistance 12 in the arc circuit and the latter being connected across the arc. At excessive arc voltages relay 18 operates to decrease the excitation of the field 9 by increasing the resistance in the field circuit. Specification 373,735 is referred to.
