Abstract
A crystalline material containing potassium nitrate and barium nitrate, substantially in the form of a double salt, is obtained by crystallization from an aqueous solution containing potassium nitrate and barium nitrate for use in explosive priming compositions. The solution preferably contains an excess of potassium nitrate, for example 30 parts of potassium nitrate with 20 parts of barium nitrate in 100 parts of water, which solution is crystallized at 50 DEG C.
