Abstract

The potassium salt of dinitrophenylazide is prepared by dissolving diazodinitrophenol in acetone and adding to this an aqueous solution of potassium azide, the temperature of the solution being maintained below 50 DEG C. The salt is precipitated and filtered. Other alkali and alkaline earth salts are prepared in the same way for use in explosive priming compositions instead of the lead salt as described in Specification 406,228.
