Abstract

393,137. Floors, walls, &c. NETSCHER, A. F., 66, Joan Maetsuyckerstraat, The Hague. Aug. 31, 1932, No. 24321. [Class 20 (iv).] In a method of making slab - shaped articles and structures subject to bending stresses, from plastic material that subsequently hardens, as for example concrete or artificial resins, an uninterrupted layer of material is provided on the side of the slab subjected to tension, and cavities are formed within the slab which extend on both sides of the neutral plane, being arched in all directions in the region subjected to compression. In the concrete floor shown in Figs. 1 and 2, reinforcement 4, 5 is provided in a layer of concrete 7. Cores 8 of domed shape are pressed into the layer until they bear against the reinforcement, and are retained in position while the concrete sets. Concrete 6 is then poured over the cores and allowed to set. The top of each core is above the neutral plane of the floor. In a modification shown in Fig. 3, each core is secured to the reinforcement 4, 5, by crossed wires 9 after which all the concrete is laid at the same time.
